Jean Lin

Senior Planner
City of Issaquah

I worked with Dave on a 110-unit apartment building on a relatively tight site where numerous issues surfaced during the course of the project.

What I appreciated most about working with Dave is his professionalism – specifically, his ability to establish constructive working relationships with City staff and to effectively address design challenges. Once an issue has been identified, Dave and I would often discuss the City’s objectives (including code, functional, and aesthetic requirements), and he always manages to come up with thoughtful solutions that achieve all of the objectives with a design that fits well with the project.

I have worked with many design professionals over the course of my career, and Dave stands out as someone who not only values getting the job done, but also ensures that it is done well.

I had the pleasure of working with Dave Edwards on my mixed use apartment project, The Point Apartments at First Hill, Seattle.

Dave is knowledgeable, easy to work with, and most of all available and responsive. Dave provided his cell phone right away, and was always available to handle anything that came up at the time. I appreciate all his help and time spent working to get this project completed.

I can confidently recommend David Edwards to anyone looking to work with an architect, project manager, or creative collaborator.

Over the past few years I have had the pleasure of working on multiple projects with David serving as the architect. He has repeatedly acted in a way that facilitated collaboration and allowed each team member to focus on their area of expertise.

On multiple occasions during the entitlement process David worked through trying interactions with jurisdictions in searching for the regularly shifting middle ground. Whether it was a conflict over a specific detail or the larger design of the landscape elements David acted with tact, diplomacy and conviction to maintain positive professional relationships with city officials while advocating for my work and expertise all while defending the client’s expectations. I feel that David valued my opinion as a Landscape Architect and allowed me to find my own creative solutions to issues rather than dictate how design conflicts were to be resolved.

Deadlines are a regular part of the building industry and these fire drills can put a good deal of strain on the relationships of a design team. I feel that David repeatedly reminded the team that projects are a team effort and that everyone's time was valued. By putting the team first David was able to set more reasonable expectations and give us the time we needed to do our jobs correctly.

I look forward to working with David in the future and seeing what he is collaborating on next
